Where Psychology Meets Care, and Relationships Come First
Hi, I’m Kirstie Ryan Wood/ Woolley and I lead the therapeutic approach here at Lunar Mind.My background is in social work, counselling, and therapeutic care. I’ve trained in a range of approaches including PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy), Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP), Theraplay, Sensory Attachment Intervention, and Therapeutic Life Story Work. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with children and young people who have experienced trauma, loss, and disruption, supporting them to rebuild trust, understand themselves, and feel safe in relationships again. For me, the most important part of any work we do is the relationship. Behaviour is communication, and behind every behaviour is a need, a feeling, or a story that deserves to be understood—not judged. I’m passionate about helping teams create environments where young people feel genuinely seen, held in mind, and supported to grow emotionally, not just manage behaviour.Alongside me is Millie, who brings a strong psychological perspective into our therapeutic work.
Hi, I’m Millie, and I’m part of the therapeutic team here at Lunar Mind.I have a background in forensic psychology, which helps me understand the deeper “why” behind thoughts, feelings, and behaviours—especially when young people have experienced complex or difficult life experiences. I’ve worked in services supporting young people affected by exploitation, in residential care, and within forensic mental health settings, which has given me a broad understanding of trauma, risk, and resilience.I’m particularly interested in identity—how young people come to understand themselves, especially in a world shaped by social media and online influences. I’ve researched areas such as online radicalisation and harmful belief systems, and I’m passionate about helping young people safely explore who they are, build confidence, and develop healthy relationships.I use approaches like PACE, Therapeutic Life Story Work, and trauma-informed practice to help young people feel understood and supported. I believe that everyone deserves to feel valued and accepted, and I take time to really listen and work alongside each young person at their own pace.
